Welcome to the Famous Stamps Online Shop

Please accept my warm welcome to Famous Stamps, a family-run shop for stamp collectors. In this post, I’d like to introduce myself and tell you a bit about Famous Stamps.
My name is Daniel McAdam, and my title varies from day to day, as is common with family businesses; officially I’m the Managing Director, but on any given day I might also be the Buyer (which might be my favorite job – who doesn’t love finding the small treasures that are collectible stamps?), the non-technically-astute Website Developer, or the guy packing up orders and driving them to the post office.
More to the point, I’m also a Dealer-Member of the American Philatelic Society ( APS Member #: 187260), an organization that I’ve belonged to for over 25 years. I’ve been involved in stamp dealing since the 1970s, and my family has been involved in e-commerce since the late 1990s. We’re an established company that customers have trusted for many decades.
We do what we do for one simple reason: we love stamps! We also love helping folks build cherished stamp collections, whether they’re new to the hobby or longtime collectors. (So maybe that’s two simple reasons.) Stamp collecting is a calm, quiet, peaceful hobby that offers a blend of history, art, and personal expression. It's engaging because it allows us to explore different countries, periods, and themes through miniature works of art, creating a genuine connection to the past. Acquiring, organizing, and maintaining a collection can be a therapeutic and rewarding experience which is a great antidote to the fast-paced, stressful world many of us reside in. And, as a side benefit, stamp collecting usually also makes people really, really good at trivia contests.
What should your goal be in building a stamp collection? I agree with the words of retired stamp dealer Anthony Grainger, who said, “You learn a lot about the world in an effortless but pleasant way. Collecting should be a pleasure and if you eventually make money, that’s a bonus.” You really can quickly become knowledgeable about a range of topics and geographic locations as you build a stamp collection, and for many of us, that’s a very enjoyable way to spend one’s free time.
Please have fun exploring our curated collection of collectible stamps and philatelic treasures, and please be sure to visit often, as we’re constantly expanding our offerings.
Happy collecting!
